Before you begin upgrading to Netezza Performance Server 11.2.1.9 or earlier
Procedure
- Read the release notes to be aware of all prerequisites, known issues, and workarounds for your particular release. For more information, see Netezza Performance Server 11.2.X.X release notes.
- If you have any custom OS settings that you want to preserve, see Preserving custom OS settings during upgrade.
- If you have a replication environment set up with stand-alone PTS (replication log
server), see Upgrading Netezza Performance Server and Persistent Transient Storage (PTS). To check whether replication is set, as the
nz
user run the following command.nzsql -c "select * from _v_replication_sync"
If no rows are returned, replication is not set.
- If you are on 11.2.1.4 or earlier, and the SPU key is enabled, turn off the MBR settings
on the Intel disk. For more information, see Turning off the MBR settings on Intel disks.
- If you are upgrading from 11.0.X.X to 11.2.1.3 and earlier, stop the
crond
service.Follow the steps that are described in Stopping the crond service. - If you are upgrading from version 11.0.5.0 or earlier to 11.2.X.X, run the
grooom versions command on versioned tables.
