Netezza Performance Server database schema overview
The Netezza Performance Server system supports multiple schemas by default, starting in release 11.0.0.0.
In previous releases, the Netezza Performance Server system supported one default schema per database. The default and only schema matched the name of the database user who created the database. If the ownership for the database changed, the schema name would also change to match. If users specified a schema for objects, the Netezza Performance Server system ignored the schema and used the default schema for all operations.
You can configure the system to support schemas within a database. If you enable this support, the admin user and privileged users can create and manage schemas. The system also validates the schema information, and you can configure whether invalid schemas return a warning or an error. For example, you can configure the system to return an error for any queries that specify an invalid or non-existent schema, or you can configure the system to return a warning message for queries that use an invalid schema and to use the default schema for a database.
