Default Netezza Performance Server groups and users
There is a default Netezza Performance Server database user named admin and a group named public.
The admin database user is the database super-user account. The admin user has all privileges and access to all database objects. Therefore, use that account sparingly and only for the most critical of tasks. For example, you might use the admin account to start creating a few Netezza Performance Server users and groups; afterward, you can use another administrative-level account for tasks such as user management, database maintenance, and object creation and management.

- You cannot change the name or the owner of the admin account.
- Unlike all other objects, the admin user has no owner.
- The admin user is not included in a list of users, except in the administrator's list.
The public group is the default user group for all Netezza Performance Server database users. All users are automatically added as members of this group and cannot be removed from this group. The admin user is the owner of the public group. You can use the public group to set the default set of permissions for all Netezza Performance Server user accounts. You cannot change the name or the ownership of the group.
