Installing and configuring ODBC (Windows)
To use ODBC, you must install an ODBC driver, configure the driver and data sources, and test for connectivity to Netezza Performance Server system data sources, as described in this section.
If you already installed a Netezza Performance Server ODBC driver, go to Configuring the ODBC data source and driver (Windows).
The nzodbcsetup.exe executable file is the ODBC driver installation program. The installation program installs the Netezza Performance Server ODBC libraries on your system, creates a Netezza Performance Server SQL system data source entry (NZSQL) with appropriate default values, and adds the appropriate entries to the Windows registry.
You can install the ODBC driver by using a GUI or by installing silently. To launch the GUI, double-click the nzodbcsetup.exe file or enter just the command name on the command line. To install silently, enter the command name with the -i silent option. In silent mode, the driver is installed by using the defaults. Silent mode is useful if you use a software management program to install the ODBC driver on your client systems.
