Managing users on Netezza Performance Server for Cloud Pak for Data

In Netezza Performance Server for Cloud Pak for Data, user management is integrated into Cloud Pak for Data.

In Netezza Performance Server for Cloud Pak for Data, all users are maintained centrally in Cloud Pak for Data. The users who are created in Cloud Pak for Data are also automatically created in Netezza Performance Server for Cloud Pak for Data, and Netezza Performance Server for Cloud Pak for Data reaches out to Cloud Pak for Data for all user authentication.

Note: When you migrate users from a source system to Netezza Performance Server for Cloud Pak for Data by using the backup and restore method, the users are present in the Netezza Performance Server for Cloud Pak for Data catalog. The catalog list is not synchronized with Cloud Pak for Data. You must do this procedure manually. For more information, see Running file system backups .

Managing users from the Cloud Pak for Data level enables you to maintain all user management tasks centrally across all add-ons and Netezza Performance Server for Cloud Pak for Data.

Assignment

You can grant privileges to a subset of users, so they can connect to Netezza Performance Server for Cloud Pak for Data through a process called Assignment.

To allow a subset of all the users in Cloud Pak for Data to connect to Netezza Performance Server for Cloud Pak for Data complete the steps:
  1. Log in to the Cloud Pak for Data web console.
  2. Go to My Instances and select your Netezza Performance Server for Cloud Pak for Data instance.
  3. Go to Manage Access > Manage Users.

    You can see a list of all Cloud Pak for Data users.

  4. Select the user that you want to allow to connect to Netezza Performance Server for Cloud Pak for Data.
  5. Set the Role to admin to add the user to the dba_group group on Netezza Performance Server for Cloud Pak for Data.
