Resource allocations for the admin user

The admin user account is treated as if it belongs to a resource group that receives 50% of net system resources. Consequently, the admin user has a unique and powerful impact on resource availability.

For example, when a plan for a job submitted by the admin user is active, the resource allocations described in Figure 1 change as shown in Figure 1.
Figure 1. Effects of the admin user on GRA. The admin user receives 50% of net system resources. The resource percentages of the other resource groups are half of what they would be if no admin plans were active.

The admin user account is a superuser account that is intended for emergency actions only and not for everyday use. Few users should ever run jobs as the admin user, and they should do so infrequently and only for urgent operations. As an alternative to allowing users to use the admin user account, create a resource group that has some or all of the object and administrative privileges of the admin user and add the appropriate users to it. The resource minimum and maximum of this resource group will determine its impact on resource availability.
