Before you begin upgrading to Netezza Performance Server 11.1.X.X

Procedure

  1. Read the release notes to be aware of all prerequisites, known issues, and workarounds for your particular release. For more information, see Netezza Performance Server 11.1.X.X release notes.
  2. Disable the logrotate.hourly cron jobs and all other cron jobs that can trigger a postgres session.
    Follow the steps that are described in Stopping and starting cron jobs.
  3. Optional: Preserve any custom OS settings.
    Follow the steps that are described in Preserving custom OS settings during upgrade.
  4. Optional: If you have replication environment set up with a stand-alone PTS (replication log server), upgrade PTS before you upgrade Netezza Performance Server to 11.0.X.X.
    Follow the steps that are described in Upgrading Netezza Performance Server and Persistent Transient Storage (PTS).
  5. Optional: If you are upgrading from 11.0.5.0 or later and if you set up events as described in Set up events, add /etc/postfix/main.cf to /nz/containerupgrade/files_to_backup.conf.

  6. Optional: Preserve Kerberos setup files.
    Follow the steps that are described in Preserving Kerberos setup files.
