You can install Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus with
the IBM® Installation Manager GUI
or console, or do a silent installation. The product is available
as a compressed file distribution on DVD or can be downloaded from
IBM Passport Advantage.
The compressed file distribution
contains IBM Installation Manager.
Use this option when you want to install Tivoli
Netcool/OMNIbus on
a small number of computers. Also use it to install the product if
you have no access to the Internet and you do not want to manage your
own repository of IBM software.
Alternatively,
install IBM Installation Manager separately
and use it to download and install the product from an IBM repository
or from a local repository on your network. Use this option to install,
or update to, the latest software without copying compressed files
to each computer. Unless each computer has access to the Internet,
you will have to maintain one or more software repositories. For more

options for installing the product with
IBM Installation Manager.

Option 3 |
- Acquire the Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus compressed
distribution file from IBM Passport Advantage or
on DVD and extract the contents to a temporary directory.
- Use one of the wrapper scripts provided to install IBM Installation Manager and Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus at
the same time.
The available scripts are: install_gui.sh (for
GUI installs), install_console.sh (for console
installs), or install_silent.sh (for silent installs).
Note: These
scripts automatically select Installation
Manager Administrator
mode when they are run by a root user or Nonadministrator
mode when run by a non-root user. If you want to use Group mode, you must manually install Installation
Manager with
the groupinst or groupinstc command.

- Download and install IBM Installation Manager.
- Acquire the Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus compressed
distribution file from IBM Passport Advantage or
on DVD and store the contents in a local repository.
- Use IBM Installation Manager to
install Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus.
