Obtaining Installation Manager

IBM® Installation Manager is available for download from the IBM Fix Central website.

Note: The compressed file distribution of Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus that is available from IBM Passport Advantage® and on DVD includes IBM Installation Manager. You only need to download Installation Manager separately if you are installing Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus directly from an IBM repository or from a local repository.

Before you begin

You must have an IBM ID to download software from IBM Fix Central. You can register for an IBM ID at http://www.ibm.com.

About this task

The IBM Fix Central website offers two approaches to finding product files: Select product and Find product. The following instructions apply to the Find product option.

Procedure

  1. Open the IBM Fix Central website at the following URL:
  2. On the Find product tab:
    1. Enter IBM Installation Manager in the Product selector field.
    2. Select V1.8.x from the Installed Version list.

4 Installation Manager V1.8.x is required before V8.1 fix pack 4 installation. Installation Manager V1.8.3.0 is packaged with refresh installers.

    3. Select your intended host operating system from the Platform list and click Continue.
  3. On the Identify Fixes page, choose Browse for fixes and Show fixes that apply to this version (1.X.X.X). Click Continue.
  4. On the Select Fixes page, select the installation file appropriate to your intended host operating system and click Continue.
  5. When prompted, enter your IBM ID user name and password.
  6. If your browser has Java enabled, choose the Download Director option. Otherwise, select the HTTP download option.
  7. Start the installation file download. Make a note of the download location.
