ISA Data Collector

The IBM® Support Assistant Data Collector (ISADC) is a Java-based tool for automatically collecting problem data from IBM products.

You can use the ISADC to run a Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus data collector that collects information about your system. In addition to the default data that is collected, you can choose to collect the following categories of information:
  • Installation Data
  • Probe Data
  • Gateway Data
  • ObjectServer Data

You can run the ISADC independently of the ISA Workbench. You can run it as a console utility from within Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus, or from the public ISADC web interface, or as a stand-alone utility that you download from the ISADC website.

The following table describes the information collected by the Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus data collector.

Note: NCHOME indicates that the directory exists on Windows, UNIX, and Linux operating systems. $NCHOME indicates a UNIX or Linux -specific directory. %NCHOME% indicates a Windows-specific directory.

Default Output of NCHOME/omnibus/bin/nco_id -v.
Default Host system configuration. This information is collected by the ISADC My System data collector, which is run automatically by the Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus data collector.
Default $NCHOME/omnibus/desktop

All files with .elc and .elv extensions are included.
Default %NCHOME%\omnibus\ini

The contents of the default subdirectory are excluded.
Default NCHOME/platform/arch/jre.version/jre/lib/security

Includes the java.security file.
Default %NCHOME%\ini
The contents of the following subdirectories are excluded:
  • security
  • default
Installation Output of imcl exportInstallData (IBM Installation Manager data).
Probes NCHOME/omnibus/probes/arch

All files with the following extensions are included: .rules, .props, and .def.

Files over 100 KB in size are excluded.
Gateways NCHOME/omnibus/gates/

The contents of the gateway/default subdirectory are excluded.
ObjectServer Output of NCHOME/omnibus/bin/nco_osreport -html -server server_name.
