Troubleshooting the sensor

Some problems might occur with theVMware ESXi computer system sensor. Find out how to solve the common problems.

Ping sensor cannot find reachable ip

Problem

The ping sensor scans port 22 and 135. If these ports are not found, the discovery ends. ESXi sensor by default has these ports blocked.

Solution

To enable the discovery, configure the ports to scan in the collation.properties file in the com.collation.pingagent.ports property or add an exception on ESX firewall.

ESXi sensor does not start

Problem

To enable the ESXi sensor start after Port sensor, Port sensor must discover ESXi ports. If the ports are configured differently, the ESXi sensor does not start.

Solution

Default port values are 902, 80, 443. If ESXi sensor has different ports configured, reconfigure Port sensor.
