Veritas Storage Foundation sensor

The Veritas Storage Foundation sensor discovers Veritas Storage Foundation systems.

The Veritas Storage Foundation sensor combines the following principal components and provides a solution for online storage management:
  • VERITAS Volume Manager
  • VERITAS File System

Physical disks are grouped into logical volumes to improve disk utilization and reduce wasted space. VERITAS Volume Manager allows administrators to work with logical names (volumes) rather than through direct access to physical devices.

The VERITAS File System also provides an enterprise journaling file system increasing performance and reliability.

The Veritas Storage Foundation sensor is responsible for discovering the following general Volume Manager configurations:

  • Version
  • Installation directory
  • Objects under the control of VxVM (for example, Volumes and Disk Groups) and relationships between them.

The second component, VERITAS File System, is recognized as a local file system and the disk layout version is collected.
