RAC discovery information
This topic describes RAC discovery.
- In case of Oracle 11.2g and later versions
-
GenericServer Sensor MAY launch multiple Oracle sensor in case of RAC setup, based on matching template.
As there can be more than 1 Oracle listener present and listening on multiple RAC IPs (e.g. VIP, SCAN IP) on a given RAC node, hence in this case, these Oracle Sensors will discover the same data, thus resulting in duplicates.
In Oracle RAC environment, Agile Service Manager discovers only those nodes that have SCAN IP configured. For other nodes and instances, Agile Service Manager discovers limited information.
To avoid redundant or duplicate Oracle Instances discovery, Oracle sensor will only complete the discovery using first SCAN IP of given RAC node. The Oracle process must be listening on this IP for discovery to continue.
All other Oracle sensors having different RAC IPs (e.g. VIP, non-first SCAN IPs) will not continue and stop with a Warning messages like
CTJTD1048W and CTJTD1049W
.
- Prior to Oracle RAC 11.2g
-
There is no such dependency related to SCAN IP.
