Troubleshooting the sensor
This topic describes common problems that occur with the Microsoft Exchange sensor and presents solutions for those problems.
The Exchange sensor does not start
- Problem
- The Exchange sensor is not started.
- Solution
- For Microsoft Exchange
Server 2007, ensure that the following services are started:
- Microsoft Exchange Information Store (store.exe)
- Microsoft Exchange Service Host (Microsoft.Exchange.ServiceHost.exe)
- Microsoft Exchange Transport (MSExchangeTransport.exe)
- Microsoft Exchange Unified Messaging (umservice.exe)
Discovery returns a Stored-0 Exchange Server
in the database
message
- Problem
- The Exchange sensor completes successfully with the following
message:
Stored-0 Exchange Server in the database
. - Solution
- No active Exchange Server is running on the target computer system.
The possible causes for no Exchange Server running are:
- The Exchange Server is installed as a cluster node, but it is currently inactive. For Microsoft Exchange Server 2007, start the cluster administration program on the computer where the Exchange Server is installed as a cluster node. Then verify that the node is active.
- The Server is acting as a provisioning volume and is not hosting any of the server roles.
- Check the log file for the cause of the failure and verify that the gateway is configured correctly.
Invalid domain credentials used
- Problem
- The sensor ends with the following error message:
CTJTD0835E Invalid domain credentials.
- Solution
- Verify that in the Access List configuration, that the access information (user name and password) is correct. Access permission to the Active Directory domain on which the Exchange server is running, and not the local computer, must be granted.
