Configuring Maximo Spatial

After you deploy IBM® Maximo® Spatial, complete the configuration tasks.

Application migration group
The Application migration group manages the application user interface. Use this information to migrate Map Manager configuration data with the Migration Manager.
Synchronizing data between ArcGIS and Maximo Manage
You can activate the ArcGISDataSync cron task to automatically create asset, location, and service address records that are based on features from your geographic information system (GIS).
Database tables and columns
Maximo Spatial has specific database tables. It also adds industry-specific columns to the Maximo Manage database tables. You can run SQL queries to list all the tables and columns that are unique to Maximo Spatial.
Adding columns to GIS feature class tables
You add columns to the feature class tables so that the geographic information system (GIS) administrator can create relationships between GIS tables and Maximo database tables.
Map configuration overview
Maps provide a visual representation of work. To view and use maps, you must configure maps and map services to a site, specify information such as geocode services and activate the map.
Configuring maps
As an administrator, to use maps in spatially enabled applications, you must configure the maps and map services on map manager.
Displaying information about the current record on the map as a label
You can configure a map to display information about the current record as a label on the map. You can customize the content to display and also its appearance.
Developing maps and routes for applications
You can develop and extend public maps so that users can view and work with records that are associated with locations. You can also configure maps to show routes. You can add one or more maps to any application.
Showing Linear layers on the map
When you select Spatial as a map provider, you can display Linear layers and manage Linear features directly from the map.
Defining mobile map parameters
You can define one or more areas on a map that can be used with mobile devices. Updates that you make to maps from the mobile device are synchronized with its map manager record in Maximo Manage.
Displaying online maps on mobile devices
Maps associated with mobile device applications can be accessed directly from Maximo Manage when the device is connected to a network.
Creating map features
You can create map features for map-enabled application records directly from the map.
Enabling or disabling object layers in maps
To view objects on a map in your mobile device, you can reduce the number of object layers that display. You can choose to enable or to disable the layers that display when your mobile device is in online mode. You can enable or disable the layers that display when your device is in offline mode.
Linking a map feature to the current record
You can link a map feature from the ArcGIS server to a Maximo Manage record directly from the map.
Configuring a web map with ArcGIS Online and Maximo Manage
ArcGIS Online is a cloud-based resource that you can use to create and share map data.
Web Map viewer
The Web Map viewer that displays ESRI Web Map data works with updates that are made to the ESRI Utility Network model.
Indoor maps
Maximo Spatial supports the ESRI data model for indoors maps that you can use to access data by building and floor.
Offline areas
You can create map areas to use when your mobile device is offline.
Automatic location of map features
Multiple fields in records that are not linked with map features can be used as an extra method for finding a map position for these records. The Auto-Locate function uses this additional information to position these records on the map.

You can customize spatially enabled applications to increase your visibility of GIS object attributes, feature classes, and service addresses.
Configuring map tips
Map feature tips provide additional information about features that are identified on a map. By configuring map tips, you can easily access information for data visualization or call actions without leaving the map view.

You can monitor the execution of some Maximo Spatial features with more detail.
Creating assets, locations, and service addresses automatically based on GIS features
By activating the cron task, you can automatically create asset, location, and service address records based on features in your geographic information system (GIS). You activate the cron task for GIS objects in the Cron Task Setup application in Maximo Manage.
