You use the IBM® MQ Appliance web UI to configure the DNS
settings for the IBM MQ Appliance.
Procedure

Start the IBM MQ Appliance web UI, and click the network icon
.

Select .

Enable the DNS service.

Set whether you prefer IPv4 or IPv6 addresses.

Define the domains to search to match partial host name. Use the directional arrows to set the
search order.

Define the name servers to contact for resolution. Use the directional arrows to set the
contact order. For the first alive algorithm, you can set a maximum of three name servers.

Define host-address maps for static hosts. (The use of static hosts does not improve
performance).

Select the load balancing algorithm.
- For the first alive algorithm, set the maximum number of query attempts before an error is
returned, and the time to wait for a response before querying the next name server in the
list.
- For the round robin algorithm, set the maximum number of query attempts on a per-server
basis.

Click Apply to save the changes to the running configuration.
