Configuring Kafka connectors

From 9.3.3, appliance users get access to IBM®-provided, and supported, connectors which can copy data from IBM MQ to Kafka, or from Kafka to IBM MQ.

About this task

You can use the Kafka connectors in a number of scenarios with appliance queue managers, although the Kafka connectors themselves cannot be installed on the appliance. For a description of the possible scenarios, see Kafka connect scenarios in the main IBM MQ documentation. These descriptions relate to any variant of Kafka, for example, Apache Kafka and IBM Event Streams.

Procedure

To obtain connectors and associated configuration files that you can install on Linux® or Windows platforms, complete one of the following steps:
- Search Fix Central for V.R.M.F-IBM-MQ-Kafka-Connectors.tar.gz, for example, 9.3.3.0-IBM-MQ-Kafka-Connectors.tar.gz.
- Visit Github, https://github.com/ibm-messaging/kafka-connect-mq-source/releases and https://github.com/ibm-messaging/kafka-connect-mq-sink/releases.
Any version obtained from these sources is supported by IBM.
To configure and use the connectors:
- You connect queue managers to Kafka by using source and sink connectors.
