What's new and changed in release 9.4.2

This topic describes new and changed features in version 9.4.2 of the appliance firmware.

New features

  • You can now define an external user security policy when creating a queue manager, or add the policy to an existing queue manager. If you add the external user security policy, you do not have to define messaging users directly on the appliance or use an LDAP server. Instead you can authorize externally defined users to work with specified messaging resources on the appliance. See Defining external users.
  • You can now authenticate appliance users by using TLS user certificates. Users can access the Web UI and REST API using this method. See User authentication with TLS user certificates.
  • You can now authenticate appliance users by using OIDC. Users can access the Web UI using this method. See User authentication with OIDC.
  • You can now customize which columns are displayed in certain views in the IBM MQ Console. You can define different views and switch between them, hiding, revealing, and rearranging columns. See Quick tour of the IBM MQ Console.
  • You can now view message properties in multiple tabs in the IBM MQ Console, this includes the option of viewing MQRFH2 message headers in a dedicated MQRFH2 properties tab. See IBM MQ Console: Working with queues.
  • You can now use the mqperfck command to generate an HTML report containing performance metrics for specified queues or channels over a set time period. The report shows key system and queue manager metrics such as CPU load and IO rate, as well as metrics for the object(s) under observation such as lock contention, MQI counts, selector and match-option mismatches, and network time. The report allows users and IBM Support to review and compare workload between normal and problematic time periods or performant and non-performant environments. It is intended to gain insight into workload patterns during times of performance sensitivity without the need to capture IBM MQ trace. See mqperfck (MQ performance check).
  • You can now specify and view AMS properties for checking certificate validity by using OCSP or CRL. See setamschl (set AMS channel) and dspamschl (display AMS channel).
  • You can now use the setamqp (set AMQP server properties) and dspamqp (display AMQP server properties) commands to configure properties for AMQP.
