Managing files by using the IBM MQ Appliance web UI

You can use the file management interface of the IBM® MQ Appliance web UI to view, transfer, and edit files on the appliance.

Accessing the file manager

To access the file manager, start the IBM MQ Appliance web UI. Click the administration icon shows the menu icon and select Main > File Management.

Displaying directory contents

To show the contents of a directory, click the down arrow next to the directory name.

Uploading files from your workstation to the appliance

To upload files from your workstation to the appliance:
  1. Click the menu icon shows the menu icon in the row of the directory that you want to copy a file to.
  2. Select Upload Files.
  3. Define the file to upload to the appliance. You can drag a file or click to browse your local machine.
  4. To copy additional files, repeat the previous step.
  5. Optionally select Overwrite Existing Files.
  6. Click Upload.

Retrieving files from a remote location

To retrieve a file from a remote location and upload it to the appliance:

  1. Click the menu icon shows the menu icon in the row of the directory that you want to copy a file to.
  2. Select Fetch Files.
  3. Select the remote host type from the Remote URL Host list.
  4. Specify the URL of the file in the Source URL field.
  5. Specify the target file name in the Save as field.
  6. Optionally select Overwrite Existing Files.
  7. Click Fetch.

Copying files

To copy files from one directory to another directory on the appliance:

  1. Locate the directory that contains the files to be copied and click the down arrow to display the directory contents.
  2. Select the check box next to the file name. A control bar appears.
  3. Select Copy from the control bar.
  4. From the New Directory Name list, select the target directory.
  5. In the New File Name field, enter the target file name, if different.
  6. Optionally select Overwrite Existing Files.
  7. Click Confirm.

Renaming files

To rename a file on the appliance:

  1. Locate the directory that contains the files to be copied and click the down arrow to display the directory contents.
  2. Select the check box next to the file name. A control bar appears.
  3. Select Rename from the control bar.
  4. In the New File Name field, enter the target file name.
  5. Optionally select Overwrite Existing Files.
  6. Click Confirm.

Moving files

To move files from one directory to another directory on the appliance:

  1. Locate the directory that contains the files to be copied and click the down arrow to display the directory contents.
  2. Select the check box next to the file name. A control bar appears.
  3. Select Move in the control bar.
  4. From the New Directory Name list, select the target directory.
  5. Optionally select Overwrite Existing Files.
  6. Click Confirm.

Deleting files

To delete files on the appliance:

  1. Locate the directory that contains the files to be copied and click the down arrow to display the directory contents.
  2. Select the check box next to the file name. A control bar appears.
  3. Select Delete in the control bar.
  4. Click Confirm.

Viewing files

To view a file on the appliance:
  1. Locate the directory that contains the files to be copied and click the down arrow to display the directory contents.
  2. Click the menu icon shows the menu icon next to the file and select View. The file is displayed.

Editing files

You can edit some, but not all, of the files on the appliance. To edit a file:
  1. Locate the directory that contains the file to be edited and click the down arrow to display the directory contents.
  2. Click the menu icon shows the menu icon next to the file and, if available, select Edit. The file is displayed, and you can edit it as required.
  3. Click Submit when you have finished editing.

Downloading files from the appliance

To download a file from the appliance to your workstation:

  1. Locate the directory that contains the file to be downloaded and click the down arrow to display the directory contents.
  2. Click the menu icon shows the menu icon next to the file and select Download. The file is downloaded.
