Location aliases for inventory items
Locations of inventory items are provided in the form of codes, which can be difficult for you, as a user to remember. The location alias tool allows you to group inventory item locations under a single title that makes most sense to you. As a user, you are able to use location aliases to name locations based on division, district, store, condition, and planning area.
To access the Location window, select the Locations option from the navigation menu. The Locations window displays the following location information for item records:
- Division
- District
- Store
- Condition code
- Planning area
- Location alias
What are location aliases
A Location alias is a unique combination of business key location values. It is a shorthand script that is used to identify one or many specific locations. Its default value is an alphanumeric string. As a user, you are able to edit this default value to meet your own requirements.
Editing location aliases
You can use one of the following methods to edit the locations alias value:
- Double-click a single location alias cell and enter a new value.
- Select one or multiple rows. Click the checkbox and click Edit Selected. A field is displayed where you can enter a new location alias value that is applied to all the selected rows.
Using location aliases
The location alias is used in the item grid view, the Forecast widget, and workflows.
