Identifying distinctive item values

Use the Distinct values function to quickly identify all unique values within a particular column or field. You can also use it as a way to search for specific groups of items that match the current filter. You must run one or more records to use this feature.

Using the Distinct Values function

To use the function, first select a field or column within the item grid view by clicking it. When a field or column is selected, click the Sidebar menu and then select Distinct values from the drop-down menu. The Distinct Values window opens.

The Distinct values window lists all unique values for the selected field or column and respective item count for each value. The window also presents additional information relevant to each distinct value.

Note:
  • The Distinct values feature does not include any inventory items that are filtered out in the current inventory view. It doesn't count selected items separately- all items that appear in the grid are part of the Distinct Values output, whether they are selected or not.
  • When distinct values are filtered for a field, and then the distinct values filter is run again for that same field, the filter results include the values that are already filtered.
  • A field (or row) that has previously been included during the distinct values filter results, will be already selected to show that it has been included.

Filtering distinct Values

  • To use distinct values as filters, select one or more values by filling the respective check boxes (left), then click Filter.
  • To change the selected distinct values, click the Distinct values filter label in the filter description field.
  • If there is an existing distinct values filter on a field, when the distinct values window is selected for that field, all of the currently filtered values will be automatically selected. Changing the selection will change the existing filter, while removing all the selected values removes the existing filter.
