Create draft items from existing items
The Create From Existing option allows users to create draft records from existing records within IBM® Maximo Inventory Optimization. This allows the system to calculate values based on a combination of actual data of emulated records and “what-if” data posited by the user.
Create From Existing emulates new draft items based on the records present in the Item Grid View. If a filter is being used then only those records that the filter applies to will be used.
If no filters have been applied then a filter may be applied in the Create Draft Items window.
How To Create Draft Items From Existing Items
Whether creating new draft items from the Item module or the Draft Item module, the system behavior and steps will be the same.
- From the actions menu, click Create Draft Items. The Create New Draft Items window opens.
- Click Create From Existing.
- Enter a batch name:
- The batch name must be unique.
- The Number of records that will be created will be displayed. If this is more records than necessary, or the user would like a specific set of records, then the user may apply a filter (step 5).
- Optionally add a filter. For more information, see Add Item Filter.
- Once a filter has been applied the appropriate filter label will be displayed.
- The user should review the Number of records to confirm.
- Click Save. A confirmation pop will be presented indicating how many Draft Items will be created.
- Click Confirm.
Once the new draft items have been confirmed the user will be redirected to the Grid View of the Draft Item module where the newly created draft items will be listed. The newly created draft items will be identical in structure to normal item records, except for the Batch name field which is manually assigned by the user.
