Importing files

You can import externally generated transaction records into the Maximo® database from a CSV (comma-separated-value) file.

About this task

Attention: The comma (,) is the only valid value for separators in CSV files that you import. CSV files that use a separator other than the comma fail the import process.

You import the records into the PLUSTVEND and PLUSTMTRIMP imported transactions tables. The Imported Transactions table window displays records that are in the PLUSTVEND table. The Imported Meter Readings table window displays records that are in the PLUSTMTRIMP table.

Procedure

  1. In the Fuel Transactions Import (Tr) application, select Import File from the Select Action menu.
  2. Specify a template to import transaction records.
The template identifies the values that are contained in the vendor data file and their sequence. The template also can specify default values such as the storeroom, GL account, and vendor.
  3. Optional: Enter or edit the type, storeroom, GL account, vendor, or site.
These values overwrite any corresponding values in the imported data.
  4. Specify the type of records to import.
    • Select Import Transactions to import the records into the PLUSTVEND table. These transaction records can be used to create Maximo database purchase order records, invoice records, or inventory transactions.
    • Select Import Meter Readings to import the records into the PLUSTMTRIMP table. These externally generated meter-reading records can be used to create Maximo database meter-reading records.
    • Select both Import Transactions and Import Meter Readings if the data file contains both meter readings and transaction records. The import process maps meter readings to the PLUSTMTRIMP table and transaction records to the PLUSTVEND table.
  5. If you are importing meter readings, specify the site for the Maximo database meter-reading records in the Site for Imported Readings field.
  6. Optional: Select Run Import Process in Background.
You can then continue to use the system while the data is imported.
  7. Click Select File to specify the CSV file that contains the data to import.
  8. Click OK.

What to do next

If you run the import process in the background, you can view the imported data by closing and reopening the Fuel Transactions Import (Tr) application. If the import process is complete, you can view all imported records from the CSV file. If the import process is not complete when the Fuel Transactions Import (Tr) application reopens, you can view all records that are imported to that point.
