Methods of calculating averages for meters
When you set up a meter, you must specify one of four possible methods of calculating averages for meter readings: All, Sliding-Days, Sliding Readings, or Static. A different formula is used to calculate each method of averaging.
Formulas used to calculate the value for each average type
- All
- Sum (All deltas up to the current reading) / (Current reading date - Start reading date)
- Sliding-Days
- Sum (Deltas within last interval days) / Interval
If there are no readings within the last interval days, the current reading delta is divided by the interval.
- Sliding-Readings
- Sum (Deltas of last n-1* readings) / (Current reading
date - Date of first reading in this series)
* The value is n-1 because the current reading is included in the sum.
- Static
- Predefined static "average"; never calculated.
