Quick Assets (Nuc) application
You use the Quick Assets (Nuc) application to create and manage simplified asset records. These records are intended for qualified usage by operations in plant operational configuration control processes such as lineups or clearances.
The records that are created in the Quick Assets (Nuc) application can be referred to as quick assets. Typically, quick assets are created for components that have rotable or inventory characteristics, but are not formally maintained within the inventory process. Examples include temporary rental equipment such as air compressors or auxiliary boiler skids that are attached to the permanent plant for a limited period, consumables such as flanges or jumpers, or critical safety devices such as grounding fixtures or freeze seals. The Quick Assets (Nuc) application supports control of these components by operations and administration, but excludes them from engineering configuration management.
Quick assets are automatically assigned a predefined component type and record status. The following rules apply:
- The default component type for quick assets is ADMIN. This component type is not exclusive to assets that are created in the Quick Assets (Nuc) application, however, only assets with a component type of ADMIN can be opened in the Quick Assets (Nuc) application.
- However, the default record status is Not Ready you can define a different but equivalent status for quick assets in different sites by configuring the relevant asset and location option in the Organizations (Nuc) application. Asset records that have a status of Not Ready or its equivalent are not subject to configuration control. Quick assets, which by definition has a status of Not Ready or its equivalent, are therefore always exempt from configuration control.
You can use the Quick Assets (Nuc) application to perform the following tasks:
- Create quick assets, that is, asset records that have a component type ADMIN and a default status of Not Ready.
- Open asset records that were created in the Assets (Nuc) application and have a component type of ADMIN.
- Specify allowable positions and define the associated restoration conditions.
- Define asset specifications.
- Define a safety plan.
You can view but you cannot change the status of an asset record in the Quick Assets (Nuc) application. To change its status, you must open the record in the Assets (Nuc) application. If the process of configuration change management is set up for the asset site and the asset object, the promotion of the asset from a status of Not Ready brings it under configuration control.
