Creating work orders

A work order specifies information about the work that must be performed for an asset, location, or configuration item. You can add a job plan, work plan, safety plan, and impact plan. You can specify the requirement for a clearance. You can also record actuals as work progresses.

About this task

The default status for new work orders is Waiting for Approval (WAPPR).

Procedure

  1. In the Work Order Tracking (Nuc) application, click New Work Order.
  2. Specify whether you are creating the work order for a location, asset, configuration item, or general ledger account.
    • If you specify a location that has a single associated asset, the asset value is copied to the record.
    • If you specify a location that is associated with a default non-boundary equipment group, the equipment group value is copied to the record. You can override the default value if you want to specify a different equipment group.
  3. If you hung a condition tag in the field to flag a particular component condition, deficiency, or work that is already in progress, specify the tag ID.
  4. Optional: Specify the work type, work category, and priority of the work order for scheduling purposes.
  5. Optional: Identify the plant modes to which the work order applies, and specify the corresponding mode entry restrictions.
  6. Specify whether the work order requires a clearance or an impact plan.
  7. Save the record.

What to do next

You can create work, safety, and impact plans for the work order by creating these items from scratch, or by associating existing records. Clearance associations must be defined in the Clearances (Nuc) application.
