This glossary provides terms and definitions for Maximo for Nuclear Power.

A

action
In the technical specifications for a nuclear power plant, compensatory or remedial steps that are required to address a condition that deviates from an LCO requirement.
additional role
A role, such as fire brigade leader, that is assigned to the incoming shift owner in addition to the functional role, which is determined by the duty station.
admin clearance
The type of clearance that is used to establish component configurations for operational activities.

C

clearance
The control and positioning of plant equipment for providing protection for personnel and equipment during work on plant devices.
clearance application
The process of tagging and positioning components to form a clearance boundary before the related work or operational activities begin.
clearance boundary
The set of components and the corresponding configurations that are required to create a safe boundary for the performance of maintenance or operational activities.
clearance request
A record that defines the sources of energy for the hazards that might be related to working on or around equipment. You can use clearance requests to identify the types of hazards, and suggest the sequence of steps, such as opening or closing valves, electrical switches, and circuit breakers, that must be taken to mitigate those hazards.
clearance restoration
The positioning actions that are required to return components to service when work is completed and the clearance is released.
completion time
The amount of time that is allowed for completion of an action.
condition
In the technical specifications for a nuclear power plant, a state that a system or component enters when it deviates from the requirements of a technical specification. Every condition is associated with one or more actions.
condition report
A record type that is used to report and manage conditions that do not meet required standards at the nuclear power plant.
configuration attribute
An attribute that is subject to configuration change control.
configuration change conflict
A situation where conflicting configuration changes are simultaneously planned for the same component in different records.
configuration change setting
A setting that defines the component fields and classification attributes that are designated as elements of configuration information and the type of change control that applies to each element.
configuration field
A field that is subject to configuration change control.
configuration information
The fields and attributes of an asset, location, or configuration item that are designated for configuration change control.
corrective action control
A mechanism for identifying work orders and PM records that must be completed to address the issues that are identified in the condition report. Records that are under corrective action control cannot be canceled or deleted.

D

dead date
The date past the due date plus the grace period, at which point the component becomes inoperable.
duty station
A unique configuration of function, site, and unit that is used to manage the execution of a function at a specific site or unit.
duty station plan
The set of responsibilities and tasks for a function when that function is executed at a specific site or unit. Multiple duty station plans can be defined for the same function if the requirements vary for different modes of plant operation.

F

function
A role, process, or activity with a specific purpose that must be accomplished for shift operations. A function can be required for some or all modes of plant operation.

G

grace period
An extra period of time that can be used to extend the due date for completion of the second and subsequent performances of a repetitive action. The grace period is expressed as a percentage of the completion time.

I

impact plan
A record that defines the operational and maintenance impacts that are related to work activities at a facility.

LCO

LCO record
A record type that is used to track compliance with the LCO requirements in one or more technical specifications and to manage the actions that are required when plant conditions deviate.
limiting condition for operation (LCO)
A statement within a technical specification that defines the minimum requirements for ensuring safe operation of a plant structure, system, or component.
lineup
A record type that is used to position or align components in line with the configuration requirements that are specified in the underlying lineup plan.
lineup group
A logical or functional group of components in the configuration list of a lineup plan or lineup.
lineup plan
A record type that is used to establish the components and component positions that are required for a particular operating procedure or maintenance activity.

M

maintenance impact
The portion of an impact plan that specifies the interdepartmental support and communication that is required to facilitate planned maintenance.
mode of plant operation
A state of normal operation in a nuclear power plant such as starting up, power production, shutting down, maintenance, testing, and refuelling.

N

narrative log
A record of events and observations that is maintained by the duty station shift owner in the shift record and include information about the event, the affected components, and related entries.

O

OLC
See operating limits and conditions.
on-demand process
A set of readings that is required for a specific purpose at a duty station. The readings in an on-demand process supplement the routine readings that are required for shift rounds.
operating limits and conditions (OLC)
See limiting condition for operation.
operational history
A record of the events that result in a change of component position or condition. The operational history is available in the component record but includes data from lineup, clearance, and duty station processes.
operational impact
The portion of an impact plan that defines the effect of planned maintenance on plant operations at the component, system, and plant levels.
operations shift review
An exercise that is carried out by the operations shift team during the initial stages of condition reporting. The review analyzes the reported condition, assesses the impact on plant operations, and provides information for the process of condition report screening.

P

permit
A record that defines work activities that are required to support work processes at a nuclear power plant.
position
The physical state of a location or an asset. A position is used to control the configuration of an asset or a location during lineup processes. A position is also used to control the configuration of a location during clearance processes.
positioning credit
A mechanism that is used during lineup execution to reuse a positioning event that belongs to another record and to fulfill a matching configuration requirement.
positioning exception
A mechanism that is used during lineup execution to fulfill the configuration requirement without positioning the component.

Q

quick asset
A simplified asset record that is intended for qualified usage by operations in configuration control processes, such as lineups or clearances.
quick location
A simplified location record that is intended for qualified usage by operations in configuration control processes, such as lineups or clearances.

R

reading
A measurement that is obtained from a measuring device or by general observation for the purpose of monitoring component performance or condition.
reading frequency
The frequency with which readings must be taken to fulfill procedural requirements.
required qualification
A qualification that is associated with a specific function or additional role. The qualifications that are required for shift owners are defined in the duty station plan. Required qualifications are checked when the incoming shift owner is identified during turnover.
restoration condition
The configuration of plant equipment to satisfy a particular operational need.
revision plan
A record with which you can configure clearance components and work order relationships for future adoption as a clearance revision. You can also save and reuse portions of a clearance boundary. By developing revision plans, you can facilitate the life cycle of a multi-revision clearance by pre-staging the boundary changes and work order additions.
rounds
A regular tour of the duty station during which the shift owner monitors the condition and performance of designated components by taking the prescribed readings.

S

shift
The period of duty between two turnovers during which the assigned staff member is responsible for the duty station.
shift cycle
A series of duty station shifts that are based on the same duty station plan.
shift editor
A user with authorization to modify a shift record that is owned by another user.
shift owner
A user who is assigned to a duty station for a shift period. The shift owner must be qualified to execute the duty station function and to fulfill the requirements that are specified in the duty station plan.
shift supervisor
A user who approves the initial clearance and subsequent revisions after Tagging Official approval is granted, and before application of the clearance boundary in the field. Approves clearance restoration after Tagging Official approval is granted, and before the restoration of components in the field. The shift supervisor is generally a member of the operations staff. The requirement for shift supervisor approval of clearances before restoration is a configurable clearance option.
shift team
The set of functions that is required for shift operations at a specific unit. The composition of a shift team varies depending on the mode of plant operation and other factors that affect plant conditions.
surveillance requirement
The portion of a technical specification that specifies one or more surveillance activities for monitoring compliance with a technical specification and the frequency with which must be performed.
surveillance requirement record
A record type that is used to represent the surveillance requirement that is associated with a technical specification or equivalent regulation.

T

tag
A physical label that is applied to a component to indicate the device, its position, and the controlling authority.
tag conflict
A situation where two or more tags provide conflicting information for the same component. Tag conflict can occur when different tags specify conflicting positions, tag types, or usage for the same component.
tag share
A mechanism for using the same tag to define the configuration details for a component that is used on two or more clearances.
technical specification
A regulation that defines the requirements for safe operation of a nuclear power plant.
technical specification record (tech spec record)
A record type that is used to represent a technical specification or equivalent regulation.
tech spec record
See technical specification record.
temp lift
The process of temporarily removing the tags or other devices, such as a lock, that are under the control of a clearance. Temp lifts can be used to conduct tests before the work is completed. A temp lift allows a user to reapply the same tags and devices at the conclusion of the test, or alternatively, to allow the tags to remain in their restored position. Tags that are shared among multiple clearances can also be temporarily removed.
template clearance
The type of clearance that is used to plan a clearance boundary and to generate working or admin clearances.
template impact plan
A stand-alone impact plan that defines the impacts of recurring work activities and can be used to generate working impact plans.
turnover
The process of transferring responsibility for a duty station from the outgoing shift owner to the incoming shift owner.
turnover reading
A reading that is taken immediately before or after turnover to record information about the performance or condition of a component at the start or end of a shift.

W

working clearance
The type of clearance that is used to establish a safe boundary for maintenance and test activities. The scope of work that is protected by the clearance is defined in the related work orders.
working impact plan
An impact plan that is embedded in a work order and defines the impacts of the specified work activities.
