Creating a classification to rate defects

A rating classification defines that attributes that inspectors can rate to calculate a score when they are creating a defect.

For example, a rating classification can have attributes for class, consequences, development, extent, and function, which are specified in a bridge rating system that is used in Denmark.

Each attribute in a rating classification requires a numeric domain to specify the valid values that inspectors can select for that attribute when they are creating a defect. For example, a defect might have two values: 0 to indicate that the defect is not serious and 1 to indicate that it is serious. As an administrator, you must create these domains before you can create a rating classification.

If an asset is configured to use a rating classification, in the Create Defect dialog box, an inspector can select values for each of the attributes that are in the classification. An automated script calculates a score from the individual values that are assigned to attributes and updates the Score field in the Create Defect dialog box. You must customize the automated script to use the attributes that you specify in the rating classification and the formula that you want to use to calculate the score.
