Rescheduling and unassigning work

You can reschedule work that has been assigned to labor resources to accommodate changes in priority or scheduling. You can reschedule multiple work records at the same time using the Reschedule Assignments window.

About this task

You can reschedule all work that has been assigned over a certain time period, or to a certain person. You can reschedule multiple work records to the same labor record for a different time period, or you can unassign the work so that you can later assign it to someone else.

Procedure

  1. On the Assignments tab of the Work Order Tracking application, display the work records that you want to reschedule.
  2. Select the Reschedule Assignments action.
    The Reschedule Assignments panel opens.
  3. To reschedule assignments to the same labor records but with a new date, enter the new date in the Reschedule Date field, and ensure that the Reschedule the Assignments check box is selected.
    Assignments with a status of ASSIGNED are rescheduled by labor availability, starting at the chosen date. Assignments with a status of WAITASGN, STARTED, or COMPLETE are not affected. Work records with no assignments or with assignments that are all in WAITASGN status receive new Scheduled Start and Scheduled Finish dates. Work records with a status of INTERRUPTED have theirScheduled Start dates cleared.
  4. To unassign work without changing the Scheduled Start and Scheduled Finish dates on the work records, leave the Reschedule Date field blank and clear the Reschedule the Assignments check box.
    All assignments with a status of ASSIGNED are changed to WAITASGN. Assignments with a status of STARTED or COMPLETE are not affected. Work records with no assignments or with assignments that are all in WAITASGN status are not affected.
  5. To unassign work and update the Scheduled Start and Scheduled Finish dates on the work records, enter a date in the Reschedule Date field, and clear the Reschedule the Assignments check box.
    All assignments with a status of ASSIGNED are changed to WAITASGN. and their work records receive new Scheduled Start and Scheduled Finish dates. Assignments with a status of STARTED or COMPLETE are not affected. Work orders with no assignments or with assignments that are all in WAITASGN status receive new Scheduled Start and Scheduled Finish dates. Work records with a status of INTERRUPTED have theirScheduled Start dates cleared.
