Viewing built-in Change workflows

This product ships with a set of best practice workflows that are used to direct the change management process. You have these built-in workflows if you installed content when you installed the product. You can view the built-in workflows and modify them to suit your business processes.

An active workflow process revision defines the different paths that a record can take as it moves through the business process, and the different actions and notifications that take place at different points in the process. To view the built-in workflows, you use the Workflow Designer application (Open menu > System Configuration > Platform Configuration > Workflow Designer).

All of the built-in Change Management workflows begin with the letters PMCHG. To see a list of these workflows, go to the Workflow Designer application, type PMCHG in the Process field, and press Enter. You can then select any of the workflows in the list to display a graphical representation of the steps that are defined for that workflow, and you can drill down to see specific details about each step. For example, if another workflow is being used as a subprocess of the workflow that you are inspecting, you can view the name of the subprocess workflow.

The advanced Change process is controlled by the best practice PMCHGMAIN1 workflow. You can select this workflow from the list to view a graphical representation of the steps that are defined for the advanced Change process.

The express Change process is controlled by the PMCHGFIXD1 or PMCHGFLEXD1 workflow. You can also select either of these workflows to view a graphical representation of the steps that are defined for the express process.
