Managing change windows in the calendar

The Change Window Calendar displays day-by-day scheduling information for change windows. You can drill down into the cell for a day and view all of the change windows that are scheduled for that day. You can view, modify, or delete the individual change windows that are scheduled for a date.

About this task

The Change Window Calendar displays change window scheduling information as follows:

  • A link that is displayed in a date cell indicates the combined duration of all scheduled change windows for that day. For example, 5:00 hours indicates that the change windows for that date have a combined duration of five hours.
  • If all of the scheduled change windows have overlapping time periods, only the time duration link is displayed in the date cell. For example, if 5:00 hours is the only item that is displayed in a cell, all of the scheduled change windows overlap.
  • If one or more scheduled change windows do not overlap, the number of windows is displayed in the cell. For example, if two overlapping change windows have a combined duration of five hours, and a third non-overlapping change window has a duration of two hours, the link displays 7:00 hours. In addition, 2 windows is displayed.
  • If a change window spans midnight, links in each corresponding cell display the portion of the change window that occurs in that day. For example, if you create a two-hour change window from 11:00 PM on Monday until 01:00 AM on Tuesday, the Monday and Tuesday cells will each display 1:00 hours. If the midnight-spanning change windows are scheduled daily, the link in each date cell displays 2:00 hours, with 2 windows displayed.
From within the calendar, click on a link in a date cell to open the Change Window Schedule panel. You can use this panel to view all of the merged change windows for the date. You can also use this panel to view, modify, and delete the change windows in their individual, non-merged state. For more information, see Viewing and modifying change windows scheduled on a day.
