Applying an asset template to existing assets

When you apply an asset template to an existing asset, the data in the asset template replaces the data in the asset. Any specification records that are created in the template are also replaced.

About this task

To retain any data on the existing assets, leave the corresponding fields blank in the asset template. Template records for spare parts, PMs, meters, and data sheets are added to the records of the assets.

1. In the Asset Templates application, select the asset template that you want to apply to existing assets.
2. Open the Apply to Existing Assets window:
   1. Click Apply to Existing Assets.
   2. Select a site and click OK.
3. Specify the default asset data that you want the assets to share.
4. Click OK to apply the asset template to the existing assets.
