Import discovery data into Maximo IT

The ability to perform effective license management within Maximo IT is dependent upon the quality and accuracy of the discovery data imported into Maximo IT, particularly:

• the knowledge of which products are deployed (including version/release data)
• the number of deployed instances there are of a given product
• if/how much of a given product is used

There are a variety of discovery tools, for both mainframe and distributed software.

Data from discovery tools are imported into Maximo IT via the Integration Composer, inventory data are imported into the Maximo IT database tables as deployed assets. Integration Composer uses integration schema adapters to map and transform the data collected by the discovery tool and move into Maximo IT. There are a variety of OOTB schema adapters for discovery tools.
