Configuring Slack in Maximo IT

This section describes the System Administrator tasks to connect Maximo IT to a third party collaboration platform, Slack. This allows Maximo IT users to share content with each other through Slack.

Before you begin

  • Make sure that the Slack Proxy Service URL is Public and Secure.
  • Before you configure ChatOps in Maximo IT for Slack integration, you must ensure you have created an application in Slack. Refer to Creating a Slack application.

Procedure

  1. Log in to Maximo IT and go to Integration > ChatOps Configuration.
  2. In the Slack tab, enter Client ID, Client secret, and Signing Secret that you noted when you created the Slack application.
  3. Save your changes.
  4. Click Add Teams. This will open a Slack dialog, select a channel from the drop-down for your Slack application and click Allow.
    Note: Before adding teams, make sure that System Properties configuration is complete so that the integration connection is successful.
  5. Refresh the page.
  6. Details under ChatOps Team ID and ChatOps Team Name will now be visible.

Results

ChatOps in Maximo IT is integrated with Slack.
