Offerings

Offerings are created or defined in the Offerings application. A fully configured active offering is made available in the Offering Catalog or Self Service Center to be requested by a user.

A fully configured active offering is made available in the Offering Catalog, Self Serve or Self Service Center to be requested by a user.

First, the Service Designer can choose to create one of four different types of offerings based on what they need to provide for their organization, and how they plan to deliver their services:
  • Service Request offering
  • Descriptive offering
  • Service Desk offering
  • Action offering
Service Designers can choose one of two different types of presentation dialogs for their offerings based on the needs of their organization (see the Offering Dialogs topics for more details on each of these options):
  • Default Presentation
  • Custom Presentation

Validation scripts can be associated with different states of an offering. For example, a script can be attached that is run prior to the offering dialog being shown to the user, to allow fields to be pre-populated. Scripts can also be attached to run when the offering is added to the cart, or when the cart is submitted.

Service Designers may also decide to include offering price information on the offering dialog. Enabling pricing for Offerings allows the pricing information contained in the Offering Price Book to be displayed in Offering dialogs and in the Shopping Cart. The pricing information is also displayed in the associated Service Request and approval request for the Service Request, and in the Offering Catalog and Self Service Center applications.
