Defining attribute replacement rules in a target environment

Attribute replacement rules specify the conditions under which an attribute value is replaced at deployment time.

Procedure

  1. In a target environment, open the Migration Manager application and select the Add/Modify Replacement Rules action.
  2. In the Select Migration Object window, select a migration object in the tree and click Add/Modify Rules.
  3. In the Replacement Rules section of the Add/Modify Replacement Rules window, click New Row.
  4. Specify a name and sequence number for the rule.
  5. To enable the rule for immediate use, select Enabled.
  6. To apply the rule to database insertions, updates, or deletions, select the Apply on Primary Object check boxes.
  7. On the Attributes tab, for each attribute, click New Row and define the attribute replacement rule:
    1. Specify the field to replace.
    2. To replace the value only when the value is null, select Replace When Null.
    3. Select the type of replacement and specify the value. You can specify a property name, value, MAXVAR value, or field.
  8. On the Conditions tab, for each condition, click New Row and define the condition:
    1. To change the order in which the condition is applied, change the value in the Condition field.
    2. In the Field Evaluation for Conditions section, click New Row
    3. Specify an XML field.
    4. In the Evaluation Type field, specify an operator.
    5. Specify the value to evaluate. You can specify a value, MAXVAR value, or comparison field.
  9. Click OK.
