Automatically creating data restrictions

Service Catalog provides two options for creating data restrictions automatically to restrict access to offerings and catalogs in the Offering Catalog and Self Service Center applications or globally. This allows the Administrator greater flexibility to restrict access to offerings and catalogs.

The first option is to restrict access to offerings and catalogs in the Offering Catalog and Self Service Center applications. This can be done by checking the Create Offering Catalog and Self Service Center Data Restrictions? check box on the on the Service Catalog tab in the Security Groups application.

Use the following steps to automatically generate data restrictions for the Offering Catalog and Self Service Center applications:
  1. Click Open menu > Security > Security Groups.
  2. Find and select the required security group.
  3. Click on the Service Catalog tab.
  4. Select the Create Offering Catalog and Self Service Center Data Restrictions? check box.
  5. Click the Save icon to save the Security Group.

The following data restrictions will be created:

The second option is to restrict access to offerings and catalogs in all applications. This can be done by checking the Create Global Data Restrictions? check box on the Service Catalog tab in the Security Groups application.
Note: Choosing the Global Data Restrictions option will restrict user access when creating new offerings in the Offerings application.
Use the following steps to automatically generate data restrictions for the all applications:
  1. Click Open menu > Security > Security Groups.
  2. On the record list, select the security group for which you want to create a data restriction.
  3. Click on the Service Catalog tab.
  4. Select the Create Global Data Restrictions? check box.
  5. Click the Save icon to save the Security Group.

The following data restrictions will be created:
