Showing and hiding the Contact Us pod and chat button

The Contact Us pod is displayed on the Self Service Center home page. The pod contains a button users click to initiate a chat with an Agent. You can show or hide the button for specified security groups. You can also show or hide the contact pod.

About this task

Even if you choose not to enable the live chat capability, you can display the pod with other useful information, such as contact numbers.

This product ships with authorization for the MAXADMIN security group to perform this task. In addition, both the pod and the chat button are enabled for the MAXADMIN group. As shipped, the pod is titled Contact Us and contains a link to information about editing the pod and the Chat Now button. Both the title and the contents of the pod can be edited, so these items might be different in your current product installation.

Procedure

Perform these steps to specify which security groups see the pod and the chat button. If you disable the pod for a group, the chat button is automatically removed as well.

  1. Go to the Security Groups application (Open menu > Security > Security Groups), and open a group for which you want to hide or show the contact or chat options.
  2. Select the Applications tab, and scroll or filter to locate and select the Self Service Center application.
  3. In the second section of the Options for Self Service Center section, open the Filter twistie and type contact us in the Description field. The options for showing the button and the pod are displayed.
  4. Check Grant Access for the option or options that you want to enable for the security group.
  5. Save the record and repeat these steps for other security groups as appropriate.
