You create relationships to define rules that determine
how assets or configuration items relate to each other. These rules
affect how you deploy, manage, and search for assets and configuration
items.
Procedure
- In the Relationships application, click the New
Relationship icon.
- Select the type of relationship. Type defines
the relationship as either BIDIRECTIONAL or UNIDIRECTIONAL.
- In the Use With field, enter or
select ASSET, for asset relationships, or CI,
for configuration item relationships.
- Optional: If the linear asset features are
available, specify these options:
- To use the relationship with linear assets, select Linear.
- To use the relationship as a reference point in linear assets,
select Is Reference Point.
- Optional: Specify a complementary relationship.
Including a complementary relationship allows search programs
to find instances of a configuration item when it is a source and
when it is a target.
- Optional: Define asset or CI relationship rules.
- Save the new relationship.
