Creating authorized configuration items

In the Actual Configuration Items application, you can promote actual CIs to authorized CIs.

1. In the Actual Configuration Items application, select the actual configuration items that you want to promote. If you are promoting many CIs at once, you can use batch promotion.
2. Choose the Create Authorized Configuration Item action.
3. In the Create Authorized Configuration Item window, choose an authorized CI classification for the configuration item.
4. In the Create Authorized Configuration Item window, choose an authorized CI classification for the configuration items. If your administrator associated authorized CI classifications with customers, you can see the classifications that are associated with the customers that are associated with the selected actual CIs, as well as global classifications. If the list of actual CIs that you are promoting contains CIs with different primary customers, or any CIs that are not associated with customers, only global classifications can be used.
5. Specify whether you want to copy the attributes for new CIs.
   By default, those attributes of the actual classification that exist in the authorized CI classification are copied to the authorized configuration items.
6. Specify whether to update existing CIs. If Update Existing CIs is selected, existing authorized CIs are updated with the attributes from the corresponding actual CIs. The Copy Attributes box must be selected in order to use this function.
7. Click OK.
