Integrating with Claroty
This documentation describes the how and the value of integrating Maximo IT with Claroty.
Claroty is an operational technology (OT) security solution providing exposure management, network protection, secure access and thread detection. Integrating Claroty asset data with Maximo IT enhances the asset repository and ensures security actions take place through ITSM processes.
Integrating Maximo IT with Claroty will help Maximo IT users by interlocking assets from Claroty and Maximo IT for the purpose of support and delivery of secure services to the business. The capabilities of this integration and the interconnectivity of assets, helps users such as Service Agents and SREs (site reliability engineers), to extend their reach and break down silos with OT asset owners, and quickly work issues which include IT and OT assets supporting the business.
Security and governance are highly important to organizations. Delivering security oversight and good governance that encompasses maintenance and monitoring needs to include both IT and OT. While outages and system failures may be common, they can be prevented or minimized with effective response techniques and precise visibility to engage the right people based on the services they support and the assets that are engaged. OT assets from Claroty, interconnected to the service view/insights in Maximo IT can ensure secure assets, improve availability and the reliability of the services you offer.
When Maximo IT is integrated to ingest Claroty asset data, it is possible to obtain complete visibility of the assets owned by a business.
Incidents, Problems, Changes, etc. are presented in the Service view app for Services involving various Assets. These alerts help users discover the status of all services involving assets and apply changes to minimise impact on the services and those assets. All alerts such as Incidents, Problems, Changes are referred to in the Service insights section of Service view app. Bringing in Claroty assets as well as their status into Maximo IT makes it easier for Service agents, Device managers and security analysts to manage assets and occurring events. Maximo IT integration with Claroty helps improve the collaboration of OT/IT security and thus strengthen the organization’s processes and governance.
This integration enables the service administrators, service managers, service desk agents to perform different actions. Following is how the process flow will look like for Maximo IT and Claroty integration:
- Integrate Maximo IT with Claroty: Maximo IT administrator performs a one-time action by creating an application in Maximo IT and setting up objects and authentication to integrate successfully with Claroty.
- Fetch assets/devices from Claroty: Service administrators fetch the assets data from Claroty by invoking an automation script.
- Import assets/devices into Maximo IT: The fetched data from Claroty is stored in Maximo IT Assets application by invoking another automation script.
- Alerts for Assets in Claroty into Maximo IT: For specific devices or assets that have some alert associated with them, Maximo IT fetches such data from Claroty and creates corresponding Incident/Problems/Change records for them in Maximo IT.
- Service insights to view Asset alerts: All ticket records created for respective assets/devices can be viewed in Service view application on Service insights tab.
With this capability, Maximo IT service agents, SREs, and Asset managers gain a single view to IT/OT assets, regardless of source while taking measures whenever an alert is discovered for an asset, thus minimizing service downtime and unavailability.
