Database field lengths must be increased

If a digital data import fails because the length of a Manage field that is specified in an integration mapping is too small, a database administrator must increase the field length in Maximo® Manage.

Symptoms

The digital data import fails to complete.

Causes

A value in the incoming record from the digital data source could not be mapped to the destination field in Maximo Manage because the length of the Manage field is too small to accommodate the value.

Diagnosing the problem

In the digital data list, review the error message for the item that was not imported to determine which Manage field needs to have its length increased. You can also search the Manage log files for more information about which Manage field is affected by the error.

Resolving the problem

To increase the length of the field that causes the error:

  1. In the Database Configuration application, filter for the Manage object in the error message.
  2. On the Attributes tab, filter for the attribute that caused the import to fail.
  3. In the Details section, increase the value in the Length field.
  4. Click Save.
  5. Update the database to enable these changes to take effect.
