Status of locations

A location status is an internal value that the system uses with its business logic. Depending on your settings, you can change the status of child locations when you change a parent location.

When you change the status of a location to Decommissioned, you must consider whether the change affects other records. If the location you are decommissioning is on an active route, is part of a safety plan, or is preventive maintenance, you must select the appropriate check box. Otherwise, you cannot change the status of a location to Decommissioned.

To review the route, the safety plan, or the preventive maintenance record, go to the relevant application, where you can remove the location from the record. Return to the location record and change the status to Decommissioned. Decommissioned locations do not appear in select value lists, but they are maintained in the database as historical records and can be accessed from the Locations application.

The following three options are available only when the selected status of a location is Decommissioned:

Roll New Status down to All Assets in All Changed Locations
Select this check box to specify that all assets in all changed locations change to the specified status.
Remove All References to this Location from All Routes
Select this check box to specify that the asset is no longer referenced on active routes while the location is in the specified status. For example, if you set the status of a location to Decommissioned, you might want the location removed from inspection routes.
Remove All References to This Location from All Safety Plans
Select this check box to specify that the locations are no longer referenced on active safety plans while the location is in the specified status.
Change the Status of All Associated PMs to Inactive
Select this check box to specify that any preventive maintenance records associated with the location are set to Inactive while the location is in the specified status.
