IT asset statuses
The status that is assigned to an IT asset indicates whether or not the asset is operational.
An IT asset record can have one of the following statuses:
- Decommissioned
- The asset has been retired from service and moved to scrap or salvage. This status indicates that the asset is going to be permanently retired from service. Decommissioned assets do not appear in select value lists or in the menu, but they are maintained in the database as historical records. You should only select DECOMMISSIONED as the new status if you intend that status change to be permanent.
- Disposed
- The asset has been disposed of. This status functions like the "decommissioned" status.
- Not Ready
- Not ready is the default status for new asset records. An asset record is created, but assets have yet not been received, installed, configured, inspected, or otherwise approved for their intended use.
- Operating
- The asset has been received, installed, configured, inspected, or otherwise approved for use or operation.
- Pending Disposal
- The asset is waiting to be disposed of. This status functions like the "not ready" status. A record exists, but the asset is not operational.
