CI Reconciliation Results application
You use the CI Reconciliation Results application in the Reconciliation module to view and manage results generated when the system runs a reconciliation task that compares two different sets of configuration item (CI) data.
- View CI reconciliation results.
- Mark CI reconciliation results as resolved.
- Delete CI reconciliation results.
- Link rule failure results
When the system processes a link rule in a reconciliation task and finds no link or finds multiple links between an object in the first data set (typically a top-level authorized CI) and an object in the second data set (typically an actual CI), it creates a link failure result record that you can view in the CI Reconciliation Results application.
To view successful link results, go to the CI Link Results application.
- Comparison rule results
If the system finds a successful link between an object in the first data set and an object in the second data set, it processes the comparison rules in the reconciliation task and creates comparison rule result records that you can view in the CI Reconciliation Results application.
When you define a reconciliation task in the Reconciliation Tasks application, you specify the type of comparison results you want to display in the CI Reconciliation Results application. You can select from the following options:- All results, both successful and failed matches.
- Instances where the object and attribute of the authorized CI failed to match the actual CI.
- Instances where the object and attribute of the authorized CI successfully matched the actual CI.
If you want to view only link rule failure or comparison rule results, you can use the Select Value feature on the Result Type field or use the advanced search features to display only link results or comparison results.
In some cases, fields displayed on the CI Reconciliation Result tab are empty. For example, if a rule contains multiple clauses and more than one clause fails to find a match, the system does not arbitrarily select one of the results; instead it leaves the fields empty. The application displays the maximum amount of unambiguous information available.
You can also use the CI Reconciliation Results application to record information about how you resolve discrepancies between authorized and actual CI data. If you evaluate a discrepancy and resolve it, you can mark a result record as resolved by checking the Resolved check box. You can also enter information about how you resolved the issue or an explanation about why the discrepancy exists in the Comments field on the CI Reconciliation Result tab.
