Configuring an instant messaging ID

To enable users to use the instant messaging feature, you must create an instant messaging ID for each user.

1. Click Open menu > Administration > Resources > People.
2. In the Person field, enter the name of the person for whom you want to create an instant messaging ID. Press Enter.
3. Click the name of the user.
4. On the Person tab, enter an ID for the user in the Instant Messaging Id field. Some instant messaging servers require only a user ID, while others require a user ID and domain. The following table shows the requirements of each type of supported instant messaging service. Your environment might have additional requirements.

   Option	Description
   Google Talk	Only a user name is required. Example: userid
   Jabber	Only a user name is required. Example: userid
   Microsoft Office Communicator	User ID and domain are required. Example: userid@ocs.local
   Sametime	Only a user name is required. Example: userid

5. Click the Save Person icon.
