Creating service bulletin messages
You can create messages to communicate to ticket agents or Self Service users about critical issues.
Procedure
- In the Bulletin Board application, click New Message.
- Type an identifier, a subject for the message, a posting date, and an expiration date.
- Type a message of up to 4,000 characters.
- Specify where you want the message to be displayed:
- Bulletin Message – the message will only be displayed in the Bulletin Board applet and from the bulletin button in the title bar.
- Service Bulletin – the message will only be displayed in Incidents and Service Requests.
- Both - the message will be displayed in both the Bulletin Message and Service Bulletin locations.
- Optional: For Bulletin Message - limit the message to an audience by organization, by site, or by person group.
- Optional: For Service Bulletin - Specify
if you want the Service Bulletin to be displayed in the Self Service
Center by clicking on the box next to that option in the Service Bulletin
tab. Define the message scope by linking the message to Assets, Classifications,
Configuration Items, Locations, and/or Customers (including customers
is only applicable to the Service Provider (SP) edition of the product).
- Click Select CIs to add multiple Configuration Items to the scope of the service bulletin.
- Click Select Classifications to add multiple Classifications to the scope of the service bulletin. Note: when selecting classification(s) the message scope also includes the children of the classification(s).
- Click Select Assets to add multiple Assets to the scope of the service bulletin.
- Click Select Locations to add multiple Locations to the scope of the service bulletin. Note: when selecting location(s) the message scope also includes the children of the location(s).
- Click Select Customers to add multiple Customers to the scope of the service bulletin (only applicable to the SP edition).
- Click New Row and select Asset, Classification,
Configuration Item, Location and/or Customer. A message will be displayed
in the Incident and Service Request applications when the values specified
in the incident and service request tickets match the values specified
in this service bulletin.
- If a Configuration Item, Classification, Asset, Location and/or Customer are defined in the same row, then the service bulletin will be displayed when all values on this row are specified in the incident and service request tickets.
- If a Configuration Item, Classification, Asset, Location and/or Customer are defined in different rows, then the service bulletin will be displayed when one of the values on these rows are specified in the incident and service request tickets.
- In other words, a logical 'and' is performed on the values within a row, while a logical 'or' is performed between each row.
- Save your changes.
