Disabling live chats during database administration

From time to time, product administrators must configure and administer the product database to ensure efficient operation of Maximo IT across the enterprise. Before putting the database into administration mode, you must turn off all live chat functionality so that chat data is not lost.

About this task

End users and Service Desk agents are not notified when database administration is turned on in the product. Therefore, they will continue to chat while the database is being configured. Any chat information that occurs during this time will not be captured and will be lost. By turning off live chat functionality before proceeding to database administration, you ensure that any chat data that users produce will be captured and logged appropriately.

You turn database administration on and off in the Database Configuration application (Open menu > System Configuraton > Platform Configuration > Database Configuration). Click Help to open help information for the application, and follow the instructions that are provided for putting the database in administration mode. Before you do so, turn off all live chat functionality by setting chat queue status to unavailable, and wait until all waiting and in-progress chats are cleared from the system.
