Use this task to create a request for change (RFC) from a release. When you
create an RFC from a release, you specify the RFC completion date that is required by the release;
you also specify any other information that defines the requested change.
About this task
An RFC is requested from a release when the release requires changes to the
IT environment. For example, memory must often be upgraded before a release can be deployed to an
application server. To create an RFC from a release, perform the following steps:
Procedure
- If you have not already done so, perform these steps to open the release that
requires the RFC:
- Click to go to the Releases
application.
- Click Release to display a list of the releases that are defined in your
environment.
- Click the number of the release that requires the RFC.
- Select the action to open the Process
Requests application.
- Click New request icon, and specify the following information to define
the new Process Request:
- Type a short description of the needed change in the Description field. Type a description that clearly identifies the needed
change, so that other users can easily identify what you are requesting.
- In the Process Manager Type field, select Change.
- In the Classification field, select Classify, and click the classification value that best describes the purpose of
the request. The Classification and Class Description fields are populated based on your selection, and any
attributes associated with the classification are displayed in the Classification Attributes
section. You can optionally enter specific information to define the attributes.
- Enter values in other, optional fields as appropriate.
- Click Save icon to save the process request.
