Configuration item statuses

You can change the status of configuration item records to suit your business needs.

You use the Change Status action to change the status of configuration items. A configuration item can have these statuses:

• Not ready - When you create a configuration item, it has a status of not ready.
• Operating - This status indicates that the configuration item is currently being used.
• Decommissioned - Configuration items that have been decommissioned cannot be used in new records. You can access a decommissioned configuration item only in the Configuration Items application. Decommissioned configuration items are not displayed in Select Value windows.

You configure the list of applicable statuses for a configuration item in the CI Lifecycle application.
